Jim Rooney

A veteran producer and engineer, Jim has left an indelible mark on the Americana music scene over the course of his illustrious career. With contributions to nearly 150 albums, including Grammy-nominated works for John Prine, Iris DeMent, and Tom Paxton, as well as Nanci Griffith's Grammy-winning "Other Voices, Other Rooms," Rooney's influence is far-reaching.

His journey began during the '60s folk revival, where he managed the iconic Club 47 in Cambridge and played a crucial role in the Newport Folk Festival. Rooney's expertise extends beyond production, encompassing roles such as engineer, musician, and songwriter. He has worked with legendary artists like Townes Van Zandt and Bonnie Raitt, while also releasing his own solo records. Beyond his musical endeavors, Rooney has authored two books on influential musical figures. Now splitting his time between Nashville, Vermont, and Ireland, Jim Rooney continues to be a respected figure in the industry, known for his elegant musicality and his ability to nurture and inspire artists across generations.
